As I’ve been working on fun ways to support the collective, I’ve solicited the feedback of my fellow supporters (friends, family, online peeps!) to help me narrow down what I can offer that’s fun, artistic, and continues to be “My Aesthetic Escape”. So far, paint nites seem to be of particular interest!
Here’s how they work: I supply the ideas, the materials, and step by step instruction. People make a reservation, pay a fee (about $25), and we set up tables and chairs right in the shop. The shop is has a BYOB liquor license, so attendees are welcome to bring wine or beer if they chose. It makes for a fun, creative, and inexpensive night out.
Traditional Paint Nite
We started off with basic, easy to learn acrylic paintings. I started with Spooky Paint Nite to celebrate Halloween. I try to offer these every few months to take advantage of the seasons.

Wine Glass Paint Nite
As we gained traction hosting our paint nites (which average 6-10 people, small shoppe = small groups), I was asked to consider hosting a night of painting wine glasses. Fortunately, I’ve done this as well, but only once, so I did a bit of research and practice.
The key for me was to provide the right materials, as painting the design itself will be up to the actual attendee. I did not provide a single sample to follow step-by-step, but had examples to spark ideas. I use Folk Art Enamel & Glass Paint which is specifically for painting on glass and can be cured – meaning the glasses can be washed without damage to the painted image.

I tested this out with a couple of designs. The paint dries quickly and can be layered for a more opaque effect. The glass to the left was cured and put through the dishwasher without damage to the paint!
To cure the paint, place the finished glasses in a cold oven. Heat the oven to 350 degrees, and bake for 30 minutes once the oven reaches temperature, turn off the heat and allow to cool inside the oven. The paint can also air cure; complete instructions are on the bottle.
Here are other examples of recently finished designs.

If you have any feedback or suggestions for future “Paint Nites”, feel free to share!
