Some of you may have heard of the sudden closing of the Painted Tree boutiques.
The closure of the Painted Tree boutiques has left me with very little choice but to wind down this small business adventure.
First, thank you to all that visited this site, stopped by the booth C3 to pick up a little escape, or maybe even found a piece of jewelry way back when I was selling my art at the Collective.
Second, I will spare everyone the details of the exit from the Painted Tree, but a quick google search will show via the headlines that it was no way to treat a community of artisans and craftspeople. With that said, I want to send out my appreciation to the store managers (who lost their jobs, suddenly), my booth neighbors (I saw so many come and go, but also saw some incredibly talented people), and my family and friends who helped me put in work to make the booth a fun place to shop.
Special thanks to my husband, who would help me stock the booth, sitting on the floor of my little 6′ x 10′ space, tagging bars of soap and candle jars, lifting display furniture (from the side of the road, once!) and providing the art that made C3 a unique space.
This adventure started out as a way to relax my mind after a stressful day at work, then morphed into the world of managing a small business. Stops along the road included creating a sole proprietorship, registering for the ability to collect sales taxes, creating and managing social media promotion, having an “official” business bank account, forming an LLC with a DBA, now leads to an unfortunate stop of dissolving it all.
I am a bit sad, but I knew that there would be an “end” day for this adventure. I was already considering ways to wind-down operations as I honestly didn’t have the time or desire to make goods in the capacity I once did. Although my hand was forced a bit, I do feel better prepared to take on the next adventure.
I wonder what it will be… 🙂
